Johan and Trisha Heijkoop, of Milk-Away Dairy in Webster and K&H Dairy in Mayo, may as well have milk running through their veins. Johan grew up on a dairy farm in Holland, while Trisha is part of the storied Rucks dairy family. The two met while studying at the University of Florida. They farm with their four children: Jozef, Julia, Johanna and JayLee.
The Heijkoops believe to build a successful farming operation, one must invest in their people. “We put our people first and our cows second,” Johan said. “The care we put into our people pours over into our cows.”
